What you give away...

I am sure all of you have been approached by someone that appears to be homeless. They always ask me for some change. I can be standing in a crowd of 15 people and they always come up to me. I guess I have a nice face or something. I usually give them a buck or two.

The other day I was on the ramp off of I-24 at Shelby Street. There was an older guy holding a sign. I rolled down my window, handed him a ten dollar bill and had a great conversation with him. I think I made his day.

I was at a bank on West End yesterday. The lady seemed nice, so I started a conversation with her about how blessed we all are. As I left, I said, "God bless you". She said, "Thanks, I needed that...you just made my day."

I am not telling these stories to make myself look good, I'm just saying that I think we should take the time to make someone's day. Sometimes all it takes is a smile or a kind word.

I believe it comes back to you ten fold.

Peace,

Phil

I find it interesting that the person at the bank needed you as much as the homeless person. Just shows you (me)that each human encounter is an opportunity to make a positive impact. Okay, a little sappy. I just listened to the song of the week, twice and can't leave my computer until the tears stop 'cuz my husband is not a blogger and that is just way too much!

Also wanted to let you know I SO appreciated the ease of reading WHAT you had to say because of the format. Way to go, and I think way to get heard. I'm probably in trouble for advocating this format, but as a busy blog reader, time is of the essence. Still, I scrolled down and listened to the song and sat here and wrote too much. You sold me. Great job. Now I'm going to vote in the awards box.

Suzy, you're the best too. Always witty, charming and thoughtful.

You should come to Nashville sometime and visit Kristi and I.

Thanks again,

Phil

Random acts of kindness....it should be at the top of the list for living life.

Thanks for the story

Quote of the year...

“Be not the judges of men, but love your brothers and sisters, and find ways to reach out to them in common goals and aspirations. Where there is love in common, the divisions of creed will melt away and reveal the true nature of man’s eternal destiny -- one of unity in purpose, to be perfect as the Father is perfect."
